Read Differently on September 21

Older Students: It’s World Gratitude Day. Write a thank-you note to a firefighter or police officer.

Younger Students: Using a flashlight, make shadow puppets and tell stories tonight.

Pioneer Woman Visits MWE

Thanks to Blue Willow Bookshop, our students had the pleasure of listening to Ree Drummond present her first children's book,Charlie the Ranch Dog. She treated us to her fabulous photographs of Charlie and gave us detailed background knowledge of his character. When she read Charlie the Ranch Dog, we could clearly hear his voice through the storyline. Ree charmed us further when she sang her and Charlie's favorite song!

MWE Library would like to thank Blue Willow Bookshop, our PTA volunteers, students, teachers, and Ree Drummond for making this such a successful event. We truly appreciate you!

Guest Reader for Second Grade

MWE second graders celebrated Law Day with a guest reader. On Wednesday, April 20, Mark Kelly, President of the Houston Bar Association, read Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed by Emily Pearson. In the book, young Mary's good deed is multiplied as it is passed on by those who have been touched by the kindness of others.

MWE thanks Mr. Kelly for his time and the Houston Bar Association for organizing the event and donating this fabulous book to the MWE library.
